Possible: Attempted Child Abduction in Marine Park

Coming in via email

On Monday evening, at around 7:00 PM, there was an attempted abduction of a child on East 35th Street and Avenue P. A man in a Silver pick-up truck asked a young boy playing outside in front of his house to come into the truck with him. The child ran into his house and the truck sped away.

Please urge your friends and neighbors to keep an eye on their children at all times.

Unfortunately, the family of this child has decided not to report this incident to the Police, so the NYPD has no official record of this occurring. Please pass along the information in this email and inform your respective memberships all the same. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. It’s unfortunate that the family chose not to inform the police.

That’s close to me. I wonder why they didn’t inform the police?

    This type of incident NEEDS

  4. 4susanon 12 Jun 2009 at 8:18 am

to be reported to the Police A.S.A.P. This type of person will not stop. If you are in touch with the family, try to persuade them to talk to the police. Children are in danger if nothing is done.

My son and I had dinner reservations at Nora’s Cafe at 7 and it was quite nice outside. Maybe it happened, maybe it didn’t. Let’s take it as a reminder to always keeps an eye on our kids and our neighbors’ kids.

How is anyone supposed to take this report seriously if no additional details are provided and the people involved didn’t report it to the police? People need to use better judgment by not reporting unsubstantiated rumors and then spreading them around.

received the following important information from one of our members please pass it on….
    Aileen Belcastro
    IS 278 PA Corresponding Secretary
On this past Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2009, the driver of a silver car attempted to lure a seven year old girl into his on East 27th Street near Kings Highway. She went inside to tell her mother, and the car drove away. The father filed a police report on Saturday night with the Police precinct.

Marine Park’s own Sgt. Ira Jablon notified Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, and Chief Fox, and made sure that all surrounding Police Precincts are aware of these incidents and are on alert. Thank you Sergeant Jablon.

This should serve as another reminder to keep an eye on our children and our neighbors children when they are playing outside of the house.

Careful folks. From the tone of this “E-mail” this may be a phony. I have been on the net too long and the elements of this report sound the same as a woman dialing a certain number on her cell phone that does not exist and being told that someone is not the police. No normal parents would not report this and let it go.

I got the information from the wife of a police officer who is also a teacher(who both live but do not work in Marine Park). Now, possibly they are pulling my leg. But I have no reason to believe so, and believe the reference to Ms. Blecastro adds to it’s credibility.

As a parent, I would like nothing better than for both of these stories to be false, but better safe than sorry.
