Saturday October 10th and Sunday October 11th marks the 7th annual openhousenewyork.  The weekend is America’s largest architecture and design event, offering admission to some of New York’s most coveted sites that are usually closed to the public.  The weekend offers a multitude of tours, programs and workshops that enables participants to explore new neighborhoods and experience New York City’s architectural gems.  Best of all, all programs and sites are free of charge.  Visit OHNY for a complete list of programs and sites.

Of particular interest to Marine Parkers, the Hendrick I. Lott House will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 4 PM.  Reservations are not required and admission is based on a first come, first serve basis.  A panel exhibition, unique Lott family objects and archaeological discoveries from the site will be on display.  The farmhouse (its earliest construction dates back to 1720) is in the process of being restored and is not yet open to the public.  Once restoration is complete, the Lott House will be opened to the public as a house museum.  The Lott House is located at 1940 East 36th Street between Fillmore Avenue and Avenue S.  Please visit the Lott House’s website for more information on the building’s history and restoration.
