I don’t think it cost the taxpayers much of anything. The officers in the copter are paid to fly around and defuse potentialy (sp) dangerous situations. It seems like the fly over was within the scope of their every day day duties.

Quads are not legal to operate anywhere in NYC and these jerks had no business driving them around Marine Park & tearing up the grass and making ruts in the field. I applaud the NYPD airborne response and have no problem with any costs involved. The punks caught driving these abominations should have been locked up & the vehicles confiscated. Brookyn, NY is not a rural area and that is the only place these things should be tolerated although I’m sure there are many people in those areas who regard them as nothing more than nature polluting nuisances used by people who are to lazy to walk or hike.

Maybe Marine Park is not the appropriate place for Quads, that’s not for me to decide but the community that lives around the park.

That point aside, a fracking helicopter is just NOT the appropriate response. The people riding could have been intercepted by a squad car and given some sort of fine for damaging the park.

Did that even happen? What if there was a strong wind gust (wind was hitting about 50 max around that day wasn’t it)? The pilot could have lost control or hit a tree or something.

It looks like there wasn’t much snow on the ground which means the quad were tearing up the grass and making a mess out of it.

ehhhhhhhhh, I don’t think Marine Park is the right place for quads. I’m sure it’s a ton of fun, but it’s just not the place for it.

However, I do agree the police waste their resources on the silliest stuff.

If you ask me this is a major waste of police resources. Driving around an empty snow covered field in a quad poses no danger to residents. Unless they were speeding down streets and sidewalks they should have been left alone.

It’s not like the quads are illegal. If they were then track down the owners, fine them and take away the quads. If they arent then those owners deserve places in the city they can drive around and enjoy themselves without posing a risk to others.

If the park had lots of people in it then I’d agree they were being a danger to people but otherwise I think it was fine.
