My neighbors thought it was a waste of time and I questioned why I bothered when I got there. No one discouraged us from making the report but they certainly gave us the impression we were wasting our, and their, time. It was a crappy old bike that I never expected to see again but we made the report so that our block might possibly get a few patrols once in a while. I doubt we accomplished anything but it made me and my son feel a little better. We can not accept smashed car windows, stolen bikes or vandalized yards and say, "oh well, that's just the way life is around here." It's our property and I think it's worth a trip or a call to the 63rd precinct.
