Strolling through the neighborhood, I noticed that the house on Coleman Street that has gotten much publicity over the past few months due to its public displays opposing St. Thomas Aquinas ringing the church bells every hour, has acknowledged MarineParker’s role in publicizing this battle which has become a hotbed of controversy, chock full of stinging discussion.

Additionally, in an act of solidarity, a neighbor has hung a sign in support of decreasing the frequency of the church bells.

  1. Tony says:

Another nut joins the brigade. The complaints are unfounded and ridiculous. I personally measured the decibel level of these bells. The conditions were ideal which means there were no winds which affected the sound test. The sound test was taken from inside a car with the window open directly in front of the church across the street from the complaintif’s house. Assuming the sound decibel inside his house with the windows closed or open would even be lower.

The bells and chime never passed 54 db level which according to various studies is lower than 60 db sound levels such as conversational speech, birds at 10 feet. check this website for decibel levels http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/loudness.html

The bells / chimes are the same db as normal conversation in a home and are lower than the sound from an average television in a home.

The guy is just a jerk and his neighbor is also a moron.
